We are an Ofsted Outstanding Nursery

At St. John’s Cathedral Catholic Primary School, we aim to provide a spiritual, safe and stimulating environment in our nursery, where children can develop fully at their own pace.

Play is probably the most valuable work your child will do. In their play, children learn at their highest level.

We inspire learning through excellent play opportunities and provide a varied curriculum based on children’s individual needs.

Communication and language is one of the most important parts of our early year’s curriculum. We provide a rich language environment, where children can develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves.

Our thoughtfully planned learning opportunities aim to lead the children towards self-motivation and achievement; encourage self-discipline and perseverance and to think critically and make links with the world around them.

Funded Places Available

15 Hours Free Nursery for families with 3 and 4 year old children

For all families in England

  • With 3 and 4 year old children
  • 15 hours of free nursery for 38 weeks
  • A total of 570 hours per year

30 Hours Free Nursery for families with 3 and 4 year old children

Am I eligible?

You, and any partner, must each expect to earn (on average) at least £183 per week (equal to 16 hours at the National Minimum or Living Wage).

If you, or your partner, are on maternity, paternity or adoption leave, or you're unable to work because you are disabled or have caring responsibilities, you could still be eligible.

You can't get either 15 or 30 hours childcare if you, or your partner, each individually expect to earn £100,000 adjusted net income or more.

Eligible working families can get up to 30 hours childcare. This cannot be used in addition to the 15 hours available for all 3 and 4 year olds.

Your child can start in their nursery place the term after they turn 3 years old and have received a valid 30 hours code, whichever is later. Term start dates are 1st September, 1stJanuary and 1st April.

You can apply for the code up to 16 weeks before your child’s third birthday.

To keep your 30 hours free childcare place you need to check your details are up to date every 3 months.

The 30 hours free childcare offer is not intended to cover the costs of meals, other consumables (such as sun cream), additional hours or additional activities (such as trips).
