The University 'Up4It' team came in today. During the morning, the children learned what a university is - they decided it's a 'Job college'.
They played games to learn about where a student might live, chatted with the students and discovered the wide-range of subjects that could be studied. Year 5 now have a better understanding of university life and just how much fun that can be.
M&M Theatre came into school last week to present their version of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.
The children were amazed by the set and were very excited to see what would happen. The four actors played a number of different roles and the children laughed and gasped along as the play progressed. At one point two members of our school staff were 'invited' to join in with some dancing - Miss Brien and Mr Victor were willing volunteers and showed us some impressive moves. I think they all agree it was a fantastic show.
Y5 had the opportunity to meet Gareth P. Jones, a well-known children's author.
During the afternoon, they listened to amazing songs, stories of how their favourite characters were 'born' and joined in with some joke-telling.
They had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed the very entertaining, energetic and hilarious presentation. Gareth kindly stayed to sign books for some children who had bought books.
Year 5 spent a day finding out about Vikings: where they came from and how they lived. The children had an opportunity to dress up in Viking costumes and had great fun demonstrating what they had learnt through drama and song.
