Y4 enjoyed a fantastic day being Ancient Romans. The children had lots of fun learning all about Roman society through role-play and song. We also had a go at marching and Roman army tactics like the testudo or tortoise formation!
Year 4 are continuing their work on instructions. The children followed a set of instructions and made an edible Roman road and also Ancient Roman bread which we then enjoyed eating warm straight from the oven! The children then wrote their own instructions and even suggested ways of improving the recipes.
As part of our science States of Matter topic, Y4 enjoyed demonstrating the properties of particles in solids, liquids and gases. We then showed the particle structure of each state using dotty stickers.
Year 4 visited Portsmouth Historic Dockyard as part of our Inspiring British Figures topic. We went on board HMS Victory. It is the Royal Navy’s most famous warship and is best known for her role as Vice-Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson’s flagship in the Battle of Trafalgar. We saw the spot where Nelson fell and we experienced how life was like for the crew at the time.
Year 4 had fun making telephones in Science as part of our topic. We tried them out in the playground.
In PE, we have been performing a variety of floor movements in gymnastics. We looked at various jumps including the cat leap half turn and the straight jump full turn. We also performed various rolls like forward roll and the teddy roll. We linked the different movements together to perform a short routine.
