DETAILS OF WHAT WE WILL BE LEARNING

Communication Language and Literacy

Core Texts: Scaredy Squirrel, A cheese and tomato spider, Hairy Maclary, Hairy Maclary’s rumpus at the vets.

Non fiction: Firefighters, Police, Usborne First Experiences

Role play: Emergency zone, vets, fire station, police station, doctors surgery

- Talk about personal visits to emergency places

- Join in class discussion about caring for pets, asking questions of visitors.

- Review sounds and letters and words we learnt last term.

- Begin to write simple lists and labels independently.  Begin to write simple captions with support.

- Retell narratives from texts through drama, group photo books, own simple caption books

- Write captions (cheese and tom spider, own non fiction mini book) write thank you cards for visitors

- Mark making: emergency kit (draw and label) skeleton body, vets / doctors / police man record sheets.

 

Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy

  • recap oral counting to 100, one more/ less to 10
  • ordering numbers across tens boundaries
