Family Learning World War 2 (Make Do and Mend/Dig for Victory)
During our WW2 project, we examined the power of propaganda and how it was used during the war to influence thoughts and actions. We used common themes and government messages to create our own posters in the style of those that we had studied.
Gunwharf Project
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Gunwharf Quays, Year 6 were invited to participate
in a project to research the history of the site. We were lucky enough to work with a professional photographer, Paul, who took us on a journey to the origins of HMS Vernon. We researched the time line of this naval base and through interviews with a local man, Nigel, we found out about the type of work carried out at the base. During a fascinating visit to Gunwharf, we were amazed to discover so many clues about its naval past.
Our newly developed photography skills were put to good use that day as we took some stunning photographs using both film and digital cameras.
This project was a great opportunity to work across the curriculum as well as to acquire skills in photography from an amazing professional.
We really enjoyed the challenges and activities and have had an enormous amount of fun!
