This is a Road Safety song that we composed in Year 1
12 children from Year 1 were selected to take part in a gymnastics competition at the Mountbatten Centre. Our team came third overall, and scored very highly. Jimmy and Sofia were even awarded medals! They did really well, and Miss Brennan who went with them was very proud, as is Miss Poppleton.
Maybe there's a future Olympian in the class?!
Year 1 were invited to a 'Big Truck' exhibit run by Colas to raise awareness of Road Safety.
We were able to climb aboard the vehicles and even push the buttons! They had very loud horns!. There was even a police motorbike (Miss Poppleton and Mrs Mackenzie even had a go)
and police car - the lights and sirens made us jump!
As part of the My Memory Box topic, we invited our Mums and Dads
in to share their memories with us.
Then we had great fun decorating a box
where we can keep precious items and photographs in
We have been learning about the space. The photographs below show us ordering the
planets and also trying to walk like astronauts in space with zero gravity.
Year 1 explored Victoria Park using their senses to help with their setting descriptions in Literacy. We thought about what we could hear, see, smell and what things felt like to touch. We heard water dripping in the fountain, the peacocks calling, and children laughing. We even heard the train go past! We touched rough tree trunks and felt the leaves crunching under our feet.
It was a beautiful day and we had a brilliant time!
