Year 2 took part in an interesting Drama Workshop with Mrs Amey on Florence Nightingale. They acted out scenes in the hospital, learnt about the medicine available and how Florence made improvements to conditions. There was a focus in the Workshop on how as British Nationals we are very proud of this historical figure and the important work she did.
Year 2 went on a trip to Gosport, to look at the view of the shore line and take photos of geographical features of the City of Portsmouth. It was the first time some of the children went on the train and a Ferry! These are some of the photos they took:-
The Great Fire of London
We had a topic day with Mrs Amey last week all about the Great Fire of London. We created a fire dance, learnt about Samuel Pepys, tried on Stuart period costumes and did
lots of acting in the afternoon.
Religious EducationYear 2 have been learning about praying the Rosary and had a visit from Sister Fiona and some of the Year 9 pupils from St Edmund's. With Mrs Kern they painted some of the Mysteries to help deepen their understanding.
Mary Rose Museum - October 2014
Year 2 had a fantastic time at the Mary Rose Museum. They learnt about the Tudor past and got to dress up! The museum is amazing and the children came back with a new addition to the class. Hatch, the dog from the Mary Rose. There will be a topic sharing afternoon before half term.
